3D Mic Flags is a division of Creative Minds, Inc. based in Birmingham, Alabama. We’ve been around since 1999, mainly building websites and apps for clients all across the nation.
We’ve worked in and around the broadcast industry, specifically the local news industry, since 2000. Our work has brought us into contact with numerous news directors, creative services directors, promotions producers, anchors, reporters, meteorologists, sportscasters, digital producers, and other senior management.
But why mic flags, you ask? Well, mic flags have always been a part of the broadcast (along with the graphics and music) that we took note of. So we started collecting them. Like any collection, it started with one, and then quickly grew, and grew, and… Well, we assure you we’re not hoarders, but the collection does include over 1,400 different mic flags ranging from the late 1960s when plated clips were fashionable to the days of black and white plastic wraps to screen-printed plastic boxes to today’s box-and-foam sticker designs.
We have over 50 years of mic flag history all documented and organized (and yes, we actually created a database with info on each one because we’re nerdy like that). So why not take this knowledge and put it to good use producing mic flags that work for the broadcast industry. And instead of doing what’s been done, let’s do something different and cool.
